Suffolk Family YMCA

More than 600 local youngsters from all over Hampton Roads will enjoy a camp experience this summer, thanks in part to the Suffolk Foundation which funded a shelter at the new regional YMCA camp in Suffolk. The camp, set on a 55 acre site on Kenyon Road, focuses on youth development, social responsibility and active healthy living.

“The Suffolk Foundation has helped us touch many lives with their generosity and we continue to put their donation to good use touching lives in a positive way,” says Rick Matthews, District Vice President of the YMCA of South Hampton Roads and Executive Director of the Suffolk Family YMCA, “The Suffolk Foundation’s support helped us give $434,000 in 2010 in financial assistance for kids and families for programs, memberships, before and after school camps and summer camps. We have 11,500 members and no one is ever turned away for inability to pay.”
